Buffalo sauce and ranch are a match made in heaven and my flavor combo of choice. I truly don’t care what it’s on, if it has buffalo sauce and is dipped in ranch GIVE IT TO ME!
But seriously, if I had to pick how I most love buffalo and ranch paired together it has to be buffalo cauliflower wings and vegan ranch. Er mah gerd…. can’t get enough. I’ve tried, and adore, the fancy vegan wings on sugar cane sticks, but I always make my way back to cauliflower. Which is actually kinda weird because I hated cauliflower as a child. Maybe mom should’ve covered in it buffalo sauce?
I have been making these for a few years now and I took ideas from several recipes that I’ve seen and tried and I created my own go to recipe that I make every time now. I love to add some flavor into the batter because it really comes through at the end. And the bread crumbs are essential for me. Without them they just can’t get that crunch and it’s one of my favorite parts about buffalo wings.
I also make a really delicious ranch to go with these when I make them. The base varies depending on what I have in the kitchen or pantry, but I have made this tofu ranch a few times and I think it’s becoming our favorite. You can also use this ranch to make salad suck less!
I hope that you try out this recipe and you love it. Let me know what you think in the comments!
Delicious, hearty buffalo wings made from cauliflower. A healthy, vegan alternative to a classic junk food favorite.
- 1 head of cauliflower
- 1 ½ cups all purpose flours
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ cups non dairy milk
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 ½ cups vegan friendly buffalo sauce - I use Franks Red Hot Original
Chop your cauliflower into wing sized chunks. I like to have some bigger chunks, but the size is totally up to you.
Preheat your oven to 425F.
In a large mixing bowl add the flour, garlic powder, onion powder and salt and combine.
Add the non dairy milk and combine until just mixed, don’t overstir.
Dip each wing into the wet batter, shaking off the excess, and then coat in bread crumbs. Set pieces on a parchment paper lined baking sheet until all are coated.
When everything is coated put them into the oven for 15 minutes.
Flip the wings and put them back in the oven for 15 minutes.
Take the wings out and coat each wing in buffalo sauce, careful not to burn yourself!
Put the wings back in the oven for 15 minutes.
10. Take out of the oven, plate, smother in vegan ranch and enjoy!
A quick, easy vegan ranch that you can put together in five minutes.
- ½ block tofu
- ¾ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp dried dill
Cut a block of tofu in half and store the one half for later use.
Add the tofu to a blender as is, no need to press any liquid out.
Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and coconut oil to the blender. You don’t need to melt the oil, it should melt when blending.
Blend for a good minute until the mixture looks smooth and creamy. Use your tamper as needed.
Pour the mixture into a bowl, you may need a spatula to get it out of the blender.
Add the dried herbs and combine until even throughout the base.
Enjoy any way you love vegan ranch!
