What Goes On My Cheeseburger?
So we all know the classic cheeseburger elements. You need a burger patty (we’ll take a vegan patty please), cheese (again – plant based), lettuce, tomato, onion and a good bun. Personally, I also throw everything in my fridge on a burger. Pickles, thousand island, kale, macaroni and cheese, vegan mayo, baked beans & BBQ sauce. You name it, it’s on my burger.
And what better way to have that classic all American cheeseburger than with some french fries? Did you know that “french” fries aren’t actually derived from a French dish? The name came around in World War I when American soldiers were introduced to fried potatoes.
They were actually introduced to the American soldiers by the Belgium army! And because their official language was french the name “french fries” stuck. 🙌 The more you know. 🙌
Marrying Cheeseburgers and Fries
One day I was struck with the idea to combine the classic cheeseburger and french fries and make one dish. And thus, cheeseburger fries were born into the world! Okay, I’m sure this isn’t the first time this has happened, but it was born into my world. And maybe yours!
What better way is there to enjoy some fries than by dressing them up with all the delicious toppings from a cheeseburger? This is truly the best dish considering summer and burger season is upon us!
Let’s grill up some cheeseburger fries this year!
Bringing It All Together
These cheeseburger fries were actually super easy to put together. The whole meal can be made in the time it takes your fries to bake! I decided to use a bag of frozen french fries because it’s easier and who doesn’t love recipes using frozen french fries!?
I chose to use my amazing – if I do say so myself – Sunflower Seed Cheese Sauce recipe as the cheesy component to this meal. This recipe has no potatoes, carrots or nuts and doesn’t require any cooking! Hallelujah.
I then chose to use some vegan ground beef to add that burger component. Any vegan ground beef substitute will work perfectly. You can even use Beyond Meat Beefy Crumbles or the Beyond Meat Burger for a gluten free and soy free option!
After the burger component we need our toppings. Oh yea! I used pickles, tomatoes and fresh white onion on these. I wanted to keep these classic, but you can really mix it up here and add your favorite burger toppings.
And lastly we top these cheeseburger fries with a thousand island dressing. The dressing is whipped up from all of the condiments that you would already put on your burger, so it comes together incredibly fast. I think that this ingredient is the most important because it really gives this dish that final burger component.
The Final Product
The mixture of the crispy baked french fries with the creamy vegan cheese are a dream. And then we top that with some classic burger fixings that have that perfect fresh crunch. The vegan ground beef brings this dish to life and then the thousand island kicks this recipe into overdrive to truly create your favorite meal!
You Have To Try This One
You’re going to love this recipe. It simplifies the whole process by making it into one luscious dish. There’s just something about fries smothered in any kind of delicious topping that gets me. And I know this will get you too.
