I’m sure that you’ve heard of golden milk. If you haven’t it’s a super trendy tea or latte like beverage that packs a ton of nutrients from turmeric, the ingredient that makes it golden. It’s completely caffeine free and full of warming spices that are sure to make you feel comforted and cozy.
Why Golden Milk?
I began drinking golden milk each night as part of my hormone imbalance recovery. It’s a great way to support your adrenal system and really calm down before bed. Like I said before, it’s full of warming spices like ginger and cinnamon so it puts me in a really cozy mood before bed.
I wanted to figure out how to enjoy my golden milk in a completely different way. I had been craving chia seed pudding and I was thinking about variations I could make to a basic recipe and my golden milk latte recipe came to mind. The combination of the healthy omegas and warming spices sounded like a win win to me!
I also wanted to point out there is black pepper in this recipe and that might sound pretty weird. The reason that turmeric is yellow is because of curcumin. It’s the healthy anti-inflammatory part of the turmeric and your body best absorbs it with black pepper. You can’t taste the tiny pinch in this recipe, so make sure that you don’t skip it.
I love this recipe because it takes no more time to put together than my golden milk. And my golden milk latte feels like such a comforting pre-bed drink so I love that this chia pudding feels more like an anytime treat to me.
I hope that you try this delicious, vegan recipe! It’s 100% plant based, oil free, gluten free and it’s also free of soy if you choose not to have soy milk. I personally love it with oat milk. It’s extra thick and creamy that way.

- 1 cup non dairy milk (I prefer oat milk)
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp ginger powder
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp stevia
- 1 Pinch of black pepper
- Optional toppings walnuts, maple syrup, shredded coconut, etc.
Add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl and whisk together
Refrigerate for 30 minutes
Remove from refrigerator and stir ingredients
Refrigerate for additional 30 minutes
Add your toppings of choice or enjoy as is
