Soyrizo Scramble

If you’ve been vegan for a while I’m sure that you’ve heard of tofu scramble. And if you’re new to veganism and just hearing about tofu scramble, you’re welcome. I joke, I joke, but seriously, tofu scramble is one of my favorite recipes. It is so easy to throw together any time of the day and you can customize it in so many ways.


I usually keep it pretty simple with just vegetables or maybe some beans, but I wanted to change things up. When I first went vegan I tried soyrizo and I hated it. I don’t know if I just didn’t have the taste for it or the formulas got better, but now I love it. I think it’s just so good.

I love to pick mine up at Trader Joes. It’s affordable and really delicious. I came up with this recipe when I had a pack of soyrizo that I needed to use up and wanted to do something clever with it. I also think that you could take this recipe to the next level by using it as the filling for chilaquiles. Maybe I’ll put out a part two. Yum!

The Recipe

I loved this addition to my typical tofu scramble. It added some smoky, spicy flavor that is just so good. I recommend serving this with some corn tortillas, avocado slices and salsa. Next level right there. I also wanted to say that you’ll notice this recipe doesn’t use black salt. I think it’s a cool ingredient to add some egg-y flavor, but I just don’t like it. It makes me very gassy too. 🤢No thanks.

A new take on classic tofu scramble that adds a spicy, smoky flavor with the addition of soyrizo.

Cuisine: vegan
Servings: 2
  • 1 tsp oil
  • ½ medium onion diced
  • ½ green pepper diced
  • ½ package soyrizo about 1 cup
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 package medium tofu
  • Optional tortillas, avocado, salsa for toppings
  1. Dice the onion and green pepper.

  2. Heat a pan up to medium heat.
  3. Add the oil to the pan.
  4. Add the onion and green pepper to the pan and cook for 5 minutes.

  5. Add in the soyrizo and cook for 3 minutes.
  6. Add all of the spices to the pan and incorporate well.

  7. Crumble the block of tofu with your hands and add it to the pan.
  8. Mix everything well and cook through for about 5 minutes.
